Process and materials
Each piece is carefully slab built or slip casted using porcelain, glazed in transparent inside, sanded smooth outside and fired twice to 1240°. Gold is applied and fixed with a third firing in electric kiln.
The delicate look and lightweight feel is achieved by using very thin slabs of porcelain. Everything I use is food-safe.
The clay I use is a high quality Limoges porcelain and it has high translucency. Its colour after firing tends to a warm white.
