Small Kintsugi porcelain bowl. Very meaningful as a present or as a wedding ring dish. Kintsugi philosophy says that breakage and mending are valuable parts of a past which should not be hidden. Wounds and healing are part of our history, part of who we are. Every beautiful thing has an history to be shown.
TECHNIQUES & MATERIALS
This Kintsugi is my personal adaptation of the japanese technique. I use 22 carat gold leaf to treat every bowl that comes out damaged from my kiln.

Process and materials
The delicate look and lightweight feel are achieved by using very
thin slabs of porcelain. Each piece is carefully slab built or slip
casted using porcelain, glazed in transparent inside, sanded smooth
outside and fired twice to 1260°.
Gold is applied and fixed with a third firing in electric kiln...
Care
White porcelain: oven, microwave and dishwasher safe although a gentle hand wash will make your porcelain last longer.
Porcelain with gold luster is unsuitable for microwave and hand wash is recommended...
